A New Chill and a Familiar Thrill
Week 7 of the Fall 2025 Mays Landing Cornhole League brought more than just great competition; it brought the cold.
With crisp October air settling in, players were bundled up, portable heaters made their first appearance, and the actual test of endurance began.
The boards stayed busy, the competition stayed fierce, and every toss mattered as the season entered its final stretch.
Of our 23 teams, 18 took the courts, keeping the night lively even as temperatures dropped.
Missing from the action this week were Tree Surgeons, Hula Girls, The Courne Identity, MoneyBagz, and Lucky Sacks.
Cornflakes Continue to Dominate
There’s no denying it.
The Cornflakes are on a roll. Once again, they went undefeated this week, pulling further ahead in the standings.
Their resilience was tested in what many called the “Game of the Night” against These Effin Guys, narrowly escaping defeat with a one-point comeback that kept their streak alive.
With that win, Cornflakes now sit two full games ahead of the rest of the league, proving that consistency, clutch throws, and teamwork make the difference late in the season.
BagStreet Boys Rise to Second
It wasn’t just Cornflakes making noise at the top. BagStreet Boys went undefeated as well, capping their night with a massive win over 4 Bags 1 Hole: One Last Ride, the former number two team.
The reigning champions reminded everyone why their name is already on the wall at Freddy J’s, reclaiming second place and tightening the race for the final few weeks.
Despite their loss, 4 Bags 1 Hole: One Last Ride remains in the top three, ready to strike back in the closing weeks.
First Win and Unexpected Struggles
Every league night brings surprises, and this week’s most significant moment belonged to Tallabag-a Nights, who celebrated their first-ever win with a hard-fought 22–18 victory over The Corndoggs.
It’s a win that shows perseverance pays off and one that every team in the lower half of the standings can rally behind.
Meanwhile, two familiar names had nights they’d like to forget. Both Husk and a Half and Shit My Bad went 0–4 this week.
Surprisingly, Shit My Bad held their position in the rankings, while Husk and a Half fell to 13th overall. It’s a reminder that one bad week doesn’t define a season, but with just two weeks left, there’s no room for error.
Throwgo Baggins and Milestone Wins
After a strong showing, Throwgo Baggins went 3–1 on the night and jumped into the top 10.
Their resurgence comes at the perfect time as teams start positioning for the championship run.
Also celebrating milestones were Corn-inthians 13, who earned two wins to hit double digits for the season, and Me So Corny, whose one win also put them in double figures.
These achievements highlight the level of balance and competition across the league. Anyone can win on any given Thursday.
The Race Tightens
Outside of the top three and bottom fourteen teams, the standings have stayed almost entirely unchanged.
The middle pack continues to grind week after week, separated by just a handful of points.
It’s a reflection of how tight and unpredictable this league truly is, the kind of parity that ensures no lead is ever safe and no ranking is guaranteed.
With Cornflakes leading the charge, BagStreet Boys and 4 Bags 1 Hole: One Last Ride chasing closely, and everyone else within striking distance, it’s shaping up to be a dramatic finish.
Freddy J’s Fall Menu & Specials
Freddy J’s Bar & Kitchen kept players warm and fueled as always with $1 wings and $2 Yuenglings. It is essential for any Thursday night. Their Fall Menu is now officially live and features new favorites like the Chicken Caesar Wrap, Sweet Heat Burger, and Short Rib Loco Moco Bowl.
If you haven’t stopped in for dinner before your games, now’s the time to try it. Great food, great drinks, and great company. It is the perfect pregame combo.
Upcoming: Mays Landing’s 70th Halloween Parade
Next week, the league takes a break to celebrate a major Mays Landing tradition: the 70th Annual Mays Landing Halloween Parade. This year’s event is shaping up to be one of the biggest in history, with incredible floats, creative costumes, and plenty of community spirit.
We’re proud to see so many league members and sponsors supporting this event, from local businesses to volunteers organizing floats. It’s a night that captures what makes this community special.
Championship Format & What’s Ahead
After the parade, the league returns for Week 9, the final Thursday of regular play on November 6th, followed by Championship Sunday on November 9th at 3 PM.
This season introduces a new double-elimination championship format. The first round will be a best-of-three, and all subsequent rounds will be single games.
That means every team will play at least three games, and the road to the title could mean as many as eight. Keep your arms loose, because it’s going to be a long, competitive day of cornhole.
As the cold sets in and the season winds down, remember: every toss counts, every point matters, and every week tells another story in the league’s growing history.
