A Cold Close to the Regular Season
Week 9 wrapped up the Fall 2025 Mays Landing Cornhole League regular season with the coldest night yet. Only 16 of our 23 teams hit the boards as temperatures dropped, creating one of the chilliest and quietest nights in league history. We appreciate everyone’s patience as duplicate games appeared in the schedule. Even with fewer teams, the night was filled with fierce play, laughter, and anticipation for Sunday’s grand finale.
It was great to see Baggin Blondes back in attendance, and we were thrilled to have Fairview Chiropractic and Wellness, LLC, cheering from the sidelines. The cold couldn’t stop the spirit of the league as everyone prepared for one last Thursday before Championship Sunday.
Attendance and Who We Missed
Absent this week were Throwgo Baggins, The Courne Identity, Lucky Sacks, Tree Surgeons, MoneyBagz, and Hula Girls. Despite the absences, the matches that did take place reflected the strength of the competition and the determination of teams as they closed out their regular season.
A Tight but Steady Leaderboard
Only four teams saw their rankings change after Week 9, a rarity for this league. Born Fish climbed from seventh to sixth, pushing down These Effin Guys. Husk and a Half rose from thirteenth to twelfth, while Me So Corny dropped to thirteenth.
The Cornflakes and BagStreet Boys both went undefeated, holding firm as the top two teams heading into the championship. Cornflakes have now gone unbeaten since Week 2, proving why they’re the favorites to beat. Their precision and consistency have set the tone for the entire season.
The Night of Blowouts
Week 9 was marked by dominant victories and a few nail-biters. Only three games were decided by five points or fewer, while over 64 percent of all matches ended in double-digit wins. Many teams reported feeling they “played great” but still lost big, proof that one bad round can shift the outcome.
Championship Format and First Round Preview
This season’s championship introduces a single-bracket double-elimination format. Every one of the 23 teams will play, starting with a best-of-three series in the first round. Every matchup afterward will be a single game, except for the potential two-game championship finale. That means each team will play a minimum of three games and possibly as many as eight, depending on their run.
If all teams show, here’s what the opening round will look like:
