Hello, Cornhole fans! The Fall 2024 season of the Mays Landing Cornhole League has officially started, and we couldn’t be more excited. A big thank you to all 38 teams who signed up, with 37 showing up to play in Week 1. A special welcome to our new teams—you’re already bringing fresh energy and spirit to the league!
A Strong Start for the New Fall Season
We’re thrilled to see such a fantastic mix of new faces and returning players battling it out on the boards. Seven teams are starting the season undefeated, including our reigning champions, Jersey Cartel, and last season’s 3rd place team, Sweetwater Slingers. We’re especially glad to see Coach back on the boards after his surgery—what a great comeback!
The Airmail Challenge Returns!
Our exciting Airmail Challenge is back, giving players a chance to win cash while supporting the Mays Landing Food Pantry. Here’s the breakdown:
50/50 Raffle with a Skills Challenge Twist
- 50% of the proceeds go to the Mays Landing Food Pantry, and the remaining 50% is split among the winners each week.
- Ticket Pricing: Tickets are $5 for 1 ticket, $10 for 3 tickets, or $20 for 7 tickets.
- How It Works: Two winners are chosen weekly. The first winner decides whether to shoot first or second.
- The Challenge: Each shooter throws two bean bags from 35 feet away.
- If the first bag lands, they win 100% of the pot—no second shot needed.
- If they miss the first but make the second, they win 50%, and the other shooter has a chance to match.
- Double Entries: If the same person is drawn twice, they take both shots.
- Rollover Pot: If no bags go in, the pot rolls over to the next week!
In our first week, Josh from Landi Pools and Games was chosen twice and managed to hit the challenge on his second attempt, winning $12.50 of the $25 available for the week. The remaining $12.50 rolls over to next week. So far, we’ve raised $25 for the Mays Landing Food Pantry. Let’s aim to raise even more in Week 2!
Team Shirts Available in Week 2
Exciting news! Team shirts will be ready for pickup in Week 2. Each team has been assigned a unique color, so arrive early to grab your shirt and get ready to represent. Huge thanks to Think Ink Tees for providing these awesome shirts!
Important League Reminders:
- No Outside Alcohol or Food: Bringing outside items is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification for the week.
- Team Participation: At least one original teammate must play each week. Substitutes are allowed during the regular season but not in the playoffs or championship.
- Keep It Clean: Please clean up after yourselves to keep Freddy J’s welcoming for everyone!
