Week 1 Recap – Summer 2024

June 1, 2024 by Grant Kneble

Welcome to the Summer 2024 Season of the Mays Landing Cornhole League!

Greetings, Cornhole enthusiasts! With immense excitement and a heart full of gratitude, we embarked on the Summer 2024 Season of the Mays Landing Cornhole League. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, making the opening week not just a series of games but a celebration of community, sport, and sheer joy.

Our First Anniversary

This season marks our first anniversary and the fourth season of the Mays Landing Cornhole League. We’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone with all our players, sponsors, and supporters. Week 1 set the stage for an exciting season, with all teams bringing their A-game and contributing to the vibrant atmosphere.

A Great Week 1

The kickoff couldn’t have been smoother, setting a vibrant tone for the season. Seeing so many new faces among the familiar ones was tremendous, each bringing their unique energy and enthusiasm to the league. The camaraderie on display was remarkable, with sportsmanship shining through in every match. This blend of competition and mutual respect makes our community so special.

League Notes

Cornhole Bags

Given the increasing number of participants, it’s become evident that we have limited sets of bags. To ensure everyone gets the most out of their game, we strongly recommend each team consider purchasing their own set of bags. Landi Pools & Games offers a fantastic selection that can significantly enhance your gameplay. Investing in a quality set elevates and personalizes your experience, adding a layer of pride and identity to your team.

Chairs and Accessories

As we dive deeper into the season, we want everyone to feel comfortable. Feel free to bring your chairs, cushions, or any accessories that make your time more enjoyable and relaxing. Let’s create an atmosphere that’s not just competitive but also cozy and welcoming.

Leave Your Space Clean

A friendly reminder to all our players and spectators: please be mindful of recycling. We must respect our beautiful surroundings by properly disposing of bottles and not just tossing bottle caps around. Your cooperation in keeping our venue clean and green is greatly appreciated.

Outside Food and Alcohol are Prohibited

Please note that outside food and alcohol are strictly prohibited. Any team found bringing outside food or alcohol will be disqualified from the day’s games. Let’s support our sponsors and keep the environment safe and enjoyable.

Airmail Challenge

We’re excited to introduce the Airmail Challenge, a 50/50 raffle with a skills portion. 50% of the proceeds are donated to the Mays Landing Food Pantry; the remaining 50% goes into a pot weekly.

Tickets are $5 for 1 ticket, $10 for 3 tickets, and $20 for 7 tickets. We choose two winners each week. The first person chosen will have the choice of shooting first or second.

Each person will throw two bean bags into an airmail challenge hole from 35 feet away. If they toss 1 bag in, they get 25% of the pot. If they toss both bags in, they receive 50% of the pot.

The other shooter also has a chance to achieve this as well.

It is possible for the same person to be both shooters if their ticket is drawn twice.

If they miss, the amount raised is rolled over to the next week. If no one hits it after week 10, both halves of the pot are donated to the Mays Landing Food Bank.

Team Shirts Available in Week 2

Exciting news! Everyone’s shirts will be available for Week 2. Please be sure to arrive early to find your shirt. Each team is assigned a random color. All of this is thanks to the generous support of Think Ink Tees.

It’s Never Too Early to Sign Up for the Fall Season

As we enjoy the Summer 2024 season, it’s never too early to sign up or sponsor the Fall Season. Whether you’re a returning team or new to the league, we welcome everyone to join in the fun and competition. Sponsors play a vital role in our league’s success, and we offer various sponsorship packages to suit your needs.

Return the Buckets

This is a gentle reminder to please return all buckets to Freddy J’s Bar & Kitchen. Your cooperation helps us maintain order and ensures we have everything we need for a smooth and enjoyable weekly event.
