The Mays Landing Cornhole League Summer 2023 season was a thrilling spectacle, packed with unforgettable moments, fierce competition, and a display of cornhole mastery that left us all in awe. We had 17 determined teams entering the tournament, each with their sights set on glory.
Before we delve into the heart-stopping highlights of the playoffs, let’s reflect on the grand finale that had everyone buzzing. After weeks of intense competition, we all came together to celebrate at our beloved local hotspot, Freddy J’s Bar & Kitchen. As we reveled in the season’s success and reminisced about the spectacular games, we recognized our champions and strengthened our bonds of camaraderie. This unforgettable evening was not just about the trophy ceremony; it was a celebration of the spirit of cornhole, complete with exciting prizes, remarkable giveaways, and cherished memories. It was an evening that reminded us why we love this game and this community.

Now, let’s dive into the playoff highlights. The tournament opened with a bang as Dat Couple stormed the field, besting Husk and a Half with an impressive scoreline. Not to be outdone, Cornholio showed their mettle with a decisive victory against We So Corny, setting a high bar for the games to follow.
American Construction came out strong, securing a win against Ace Holes. Meanwhile, Beer Pressure showed its might against Bags on Boards, marking their territory in the tournament. In another part of the field, Team Landi showcased their skill and strategy, beating Title Tossin Twosome. 4 Bags 1 Hole didn’t hold back, shutting out All In with a scoreline that echoed their dominance.
The matches that followed were nothing short of exhilarating. MD Assassins claimed a hard-earned victory over Tossing Fools, while Corn Muffins emerged victorious against Corn Flakes.
The playoffs also highlighted a few standout teams. Husk and a Half, known as the sleeper team of the tournament, embarked on an epic loser’s bracket run, eliminating three teams before being stopped by Cornholio. In a memorable father-son showdown, Team Landi shut out Cornholio. With their son’s team’s blessing, Team Landi continued their impressive run by taking down 4 Bags 1 Hole.
As the tournament neared its climax, Team Landi faced Dat Couple in a nail-biting game, emerging victorious. However, the ultimate showdown was still to come. Jsquared and Team Landi battled for the championship in a match with spectators on the edge of their seats. Jsquared emerged triumphant, claiming first-place trophies, gift cards, and the coveted championship sweatshirts, affectionately known as “The Bluey.”
However, the glory wasn’t confined to the champions. Team Landi claimed second place, winning trophies, gift cards, and a High Noon Cooler. DatCouple609 secured third place, taking home trophies, gift cards, and High Noon chairs.
As we bid farewell to the Summer season, we’re already excited about the Fall season starting September 7th. So, mark your calendars, set reminders, and prepare for more high-stakes Cornhole action!
