Week 10 Recap – Fall 2025

November 20, 2025 by Grant Kneble

Championship Sunday brought the ideal ending to the Fall 2025 season. Sixteen of our twenty-three registered teams showed up, giving us the perfect number for a full bracket with no byes.

The weather could not have been better. We played under crisp afternoon air, and by the time the championship game began, the sun had settled softly behind the trees. It was quiet, competitive, and full of that familiar mix of nerves and excitement that only happens on Championship Day.

We were surprised when the reigning champions and second-place-ranked team, BagStreet Boys, were nowhere to be found. Their absence made this championship feel even more open, unpredictable, and competitive.

Missing alongside them were Throwgo Baggins, The Courne Identity, Lucky Sacks, Tree Surgeons, MoneyBagz, and Hula Girls.

Opening Round Matchups

  1. Cornflakes vs. Tallabag-a Nights
  2. 4 Bags 1 Hole: One Last Ride vs. Baggin Blondes
  3. DEEZ NUTS vs. Barnyard Baggers
  4. Fairways vs. The Corndoggs
  5. Born Fish vs. Fairview Chiropractic and Wellness, LLC
  6. These Effin Guys vs. Me So Corny
  7. Air Mail vs. Husk and a Half
  8. Shit My Bad vs. Corn-inthians 13

How the Bracket Played Out

With sixteen teams in attendance, we ran a single double-elimination bracket. Every team had the chance to play their way through, whether by winning in the main bracket or clawing their way back through the loser rounds.

Like the format previewed last week, the first round was best-of-three, while every matchup after that was single-elimination. This meant that every team played at least three games, and the most determined teams could play as many as seven or eight.

Only one first-round matchup needed all three games to decide a winner. That was between the eighth and ninth seeds, Shit My Bad and Corn-inthians 13, who split the first two games before Corn-inthians 13 secured the third. It set the tone early for teams that were not ready to go home without a fight.

The Games Begin

The first team eliminated was Tallabag-a Nights, who fell to Corn-inthians 13. It was a fast and decisive matchup, but we hope Tallabag-a Nights comes back stronger next season, knowing how much progress they made this year.

Even though the week prior had very few close games across the league, Week 10 was full of dramatic shifts. One round could change everything. There were tight finishes as well as double-digit blowouts.

There were even 10 games that were lost by 20 points or more. It suddenly became clear that everything people had said all season was true. It really was anyone’s tournament to win if they showed up ready.

The Cornflakes Story

Going into Championship Sunday, we knew Cornflakes were the team to beat. They had not lost a single week since Week 2, and they continued that streak through the championship.

The husband-and-wife duo calmly and confidently worked through every round with accuracy and sound decision-making, which gave them momentum and energy throughout the day. They entered undefeated, stayed undefeated, and left undefeated as our champion of the Fall 2025 season.

Not only are they this season’s champions, but they are now officially the reigning champions heading into 2026.

The Final Chapter

For the second season in a row, 4 Bags 1 Hole: One Last Ride took an early loss but clawed back through the bracket. This time, the loss came from Air Mail, but they fought hard to return later and beat Air Mail to earn their place in the final.

In the championship match, they met Cornflakes and could not find the momentum they needed. Cornflakes closed the season with a dominating 21 to 9 victory in the final. Cornflakes finished first. 4 Bags 1 Hole: One Last Ride finished second. Air Mail finished third. It was a championship that proved that consistency and control can outlast chaos.

Celebrating at Freddy J’s

We celebrated at Freddy J’s Bar and Kitchen with all day happy hour and the new fall menu. The Smoked Gobbler sandwich and bowl was a crowd favorite, and with Freddy J’s officially receiving Bronze in the Press of Atlantic City’s Best of the Press 2025 for Best Barbecue, it felt like a fitting ending to a season full of community and competition.

A Final Thanks

Gratitude is at the heart of this league. We would like to give a sincere thank you to our sponsors, who continue to support this league not just financially, but through active involvement and encouragement.

They show up, they promote, they play, they cheer, and they help us build something special.

  • Fairview Chiropractic and Wellness has been with us from the beginning, always supporting both as a sponsor and as a dedicated team that brings family, sportsmanship, and spirit to every season.
  • F and S Hardscaping and Lawncare LLC – Tree Surgeon Division has been one of the strongest community supporters, always checking in and making sure the league has what it needs to grow.
  • Freddy J’s Bar and Kitchen is the home base of the league, where every season is celebrated, meals are shared, players gather before and after games, and now officially the home of award winning barbecue.
  • Kneble’s Auto Service Center continues to show what it means to support the community, delivering not only sponsorship and the arena, but genuine enthusiasm and connection to our growing cornhole family.

Thank you to each of these businesses for helping turn a simple local pastime into one of the most engaging community traditions in Mays Landing.

This Season’s Reflections

This Fall 2025 season was not just about rankings, standings, or whose bags were falling true. It was about people, stories, perseverance, and moments we will remember long after the scores fade.

We saw teams rise and fall. We saw underdogs find their footing. We saw veterans defend their legacies. This was a season of intense competition, but the community was even stronger.

This was also a season that reminded us that this league is more than just a game. We all felt the loss of Rhonda from Baggin Blondes, who brought warmth, kindness, and laughter to every evening she played. Her presence around these boards represented everything good about this league.

She showed up for fun, for family, for connection, and for the joy of spending time together. Her daughters and son-in-law continue to carry that same spirit each week, reminding us that this league is built on friendship, family, and community.

Rhonda’s memory is now part of our story, and we will always honor her by keeping that same spirit alive on and off the boards.

Across the weeks, we saw new storylines emerge. Tallabag a Nights earned their first-ever win and proved that persistence matters, especially when it comes from genuine excitement rather than frustration.

Husk and a Half climbed, fell, climbed again, and showed that resilience defines a team more than any single record. Air Mail quietly positioned themselves as a top contender, and when the pressure of Championship Sunday arrived, they were still standing in third.

Corn-inthians 13 broke into the top ten late in the season, proving that timing, confidence, and momentum can reshape entire seasons.

Fairview Chiropractic and Wellness, LLC took their position on the sidelines when needed, supporting others, showing up for the community, and still finishing strong by the season’s end.

And through it all, Cornflakes quietly and confidently kept stacking wins. From losing exactly one game in each of the first two weeks to never losing again, they built one of the most impressive runs in league history.

They played with precision, patience, communication, and teamwork, earning their title not just with skill, but with consistency and respect for the game and each other.

For the second time ever, a husband-and-wife duo won a championship, and now their names will join those of the champions whose stories built the foundation of this league.

This season had cold nights, heartwarming memories, strong comebacks, hard losses, quiet victories, and some of the loudest cheers we have ever heard.

We saw evening skies turn to stadium lights. We saw heated competition followed by laughs at Freddy J’s. We saw children on the sidelines, parents coaching throws, friends cheering with wings in hand, and teams staying long after the games were done to talk, share stories, and enjoy the night.

That is what this league is about. It is not only about cornhole. It is about community. It is about showing up. It is about being remembered. It is about being part of something that grows every year.

Whether you won a title, hit a big shot, played your first game, or shared the experience with others, you helped shape the season’s story. Thank you for making this season unforgettable. We look forward to the stories we will create next year.
