Week 10 Recap – Summer 2024 - Mays Landing Cornhole League

As we close the chapter on the Summer 2024 Mays Landing Cornhole League season, it’s time to reflect on a season filled with intense competition, unforgettable moments, and the incredible spirit of our community. This season has been extraordinary, with 30 teams starting the journey and 24 teams making it to the end.

Looking Forward to the Fall Season

Don’t miss out! The Fall Season starts on Thursday, August 29th, and runs until October 27th. This will be the last season of 2024 before we take a break until Spring 2025. Get in early and secure your spot for what promises to be another thrilling season of cornhole action.

Championship Tournament: A Battle to the End

Bracket A

The championship tournament was packed with drama and excitement. In Bracket A, Jersey Cartel faced off against Whale Wars in an epic showdown. After being sent to the losers’ bracket by Jersey Cartel, Whale Wars clawed back to meet their rivals in the championship game. They managed to edge out a 21-19 victory in the second game, but Jersey Cartel came back strong, winning the final match 22-8 to claim the championship title.

Bracket B

In Bracket B, Fairview Chiropractic and Wellness took the top spot in a commanding fashion. Despite missing his teammate, Jessica, on a cruise, Ryan powered through the competition solo, ultimately shutting out Tree Surgeons in the final. It was an impressive feat, showing the strength and determination of Fairview Chiropractic and Wellness.

Remarkable Individual Performances

Rhonda of Baggin Blondes delivered an outstanding performance in Bracket B. Competing solo, she fought her way through the competition, ultimately falling to Tree Surgeons but securing a well-deserved top position. Her tenacity and resilience were fully displayed as she took on every challenge with unwavering resolve.

The Corndoggs struggled early in the season but made an incredible turnaround, securing fourth place in Bracket A. Their journey from shutouts to a top-four finish is a testament to their perseverance and growth throughout the season.

Airmail Challenge Success

This season’s Airmail Challenge was a huge success, raising $472. Thanks to the new rules implemented for the final week, Juan from Jersey Cartel won 75% of the pot, taking home $177, while Antonio from Sofrito & Sazon secured the remaining 25%, earning $59. The other $236 was rounded up to $250 and donated to the Mays Landing Food Pantry, highlighting the generosity and community spirit that defines our league.
