Week 2 Recap – Spring 2024

March 26, 2024 by Grant Kneble

Welcome to the Second Spectacular Week of the Spring 2024 Mays Landing Cornhole League!

A heartfelt salute to the cornhole aficionados who, despite the brisk chill, turned up with enthusiasm for our second week of competition in the Spring 2024 Season of the Mays Landing Cornhole League. Your dedication to the sport and the community was evident as you braved the cold to toss those bean bags, embodying the camaraderie and competition that defines our league.

An Impressive Turnout Amidst Chilly Weather

This week, an admirable cohort of 39 teams gathered, displaying their skills and sportsmanship under less-than-ideal weather conditions. While we missed the presence of “My Ball Zach Ertz,” “360 AutoWorks,” “Bucca and Beer,” “Ace Holes,” and “Cornholio,” their spirit was with us, and we look forward to having them back on the field soon.

Our league’s essence was truly on display, with everyone showing up and contributing to the vibrant atmosphere that makes our community unique. It was a week marked by a few logistical hiccups, notably some teams playing against each other multiple times. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we enhance the scheduling process to ensure a diverse and smooth gameplay experience.

Continued Support and Thanks

Our heartfelt thanks extend to this season’s sponsors: Fairview Chiropractic and Wellness, Landi Pools & Games, Kneble’s Auto Service Center, and Freddy J’s Bar & Kitchen. Their generous support is a cornerstone of our league, enhancing the experience for every participant and spectator.

Weather Contingency Plan for Week 3

Given next Thursday’s weather outlook, we’ve adjusted our schedule to avoid any preemptively disruptions. Due to anticipated rain affecting our game day, we will cancel this week’s matches. Week 3’s games will be divided and rescheduled into Weeks 4 and 5 to manage this change without overburdening our players. Each of these weeks will now include a balanced lineup of 6 games, ensuring a smooth continuation of our competition and maintaining an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Creating a Comfortable Environment

In our ongoing effort to create a comfortable and enjoyable environment for all, we encourage you to bring chairs and any accessories to enhance your comfort throughout the games. As we continue to foster a community that respects and enjoys our shared spaces, a gentle reminder to be mindful of cleanliness and recycling goes a long way in maintaining the beauty of our venue.
