Week 2 Recap – Summer 2025

June 18, 2025 by Grant Kneble

Another Great Night of Cornhole in the Books! Week 2 of the Summer 2025 Mays Landing Cornhole League has officially wrapped up, and the competition is already heating up!

With 25 teams competing this week, we had a fantastic evening filled with close matches and great camaraderie.

We missed a few teams this week, Bourbon Bandits, Cock Sox, Fairview Chiropractic and Wellness, LLC, Flag Football Athletics, and Sack Attack.

We look forward to welcoming Fairview Chiropractic and Wellness, LLC, and Flag Football Athletics for their exciting season debut next week.

Shaking Up the Standings

Heading into Week 3, we no longer have any undefeated teams! Last week’s undefeated leaders, Born Fish and BagStreet Boys, both saw their streaks come to an end.

Born Fish had a tough night, going from undefeated to finishing Week 2 with one win and three losses.

Meanwhile, BagStreet Boys finished strong at 3-1, with their only loss coming in a tight, 21-20 battle against the Brewsual Suspects.

Tight Competition at the Top

This week’s matches were especially competitive among the top teams, with the four highest-performing squads all finishing undefeated.

Notably, the top two teams, Fairways and DEEZ NUTS, each scored a total of 86 points.

Just behind them, the third and fourth place teams, JERSEY DEVIL BRO’S and Cornflakes, scored 84 points each.

Interestingly, had JERSEY DEVIL BRO’S and Cornflakes each scored just two more points, they would have taken over the top two positions due to higher points differentials.

Every toss truly counts!

Quick Pace on the Boards

Thanks to an extra lane this week, games moved swiftly, creating a quick-paced, enjoyable evening. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility and energy that helped make it another smooth night of cornhole.

New Freddy J’s Menu Launching!

Big news from our sponsor and host venue, Freddy J‘s Bar & Kitchen.

They’re rolling out a brand-new menu featuring 19 exciting new items this Friday!

Cornhole nights just got tastier, as delicious smoked meats like ribs and brisket will now be available every day (not just Fridays and Saturdays). If you haven’t tried Freddy J’s yet, now’s your chance!

Fan favorites include the Smoked Brisket Cheesesteak, Smoked Buffalo Wings, and Mom-Mom’s Smoked Meatloaf. Our creative hits, such as the Not Your Mother’s PB&J Cheeseburger Melt and the Poke Bowl, which you can top with smoked meat, continue to impress.

New additions include the Smoked Sausage Chopped Cheese, Smoked Turkey BLT, and Homestyle Fried Chicken Platter. As always, Thursday league nights offer $1 wings and $2 Yuenglings!

Important Schedule Reminder

Please note that we have Week 3 games next week, followed by Week 4 games, and then a gap week as we take a break for the July 4th weekend. Mark your calendars accordingly!

Season Outlook

We have five more weeks remaining in the regular season, followed by two exciting playoff weeks. Every team qualifies for the playoffs, making it an inclusive and thrilling competition for everyone involved.

The results of those playoff weeks will determine seeding for our Week 10 Championship, where all teams will again compete to crown our Summer 2025 champions.

No matter your current standing, every team has a shot at glory!

Special Guest Photographer!

Make sure you check out the photos from this week’s matches! For only the second time in league history, we had a guest photographer. Many of you know the children from Corn-inthians 13, and you may have seen their son running around with my camera. He is responsible for over 75% of the photos this week, which I have edited to our usual standard.

All images are randomly organized, mixing his work with mine, highlighting just how impressive his photography skills are. He didn’t expect to see his photos published, but his excellent work speaks for itself.

In fact, many of your favorite shots from this week were most likely captured by him. Check them out and enjoy!
