Week 5 Recap – Spring 2025

April 20, 2025 by Grant Kneble

Week 5 is officially in the books, and the Spring 2025 Mays Landing Cornhole League continues to impress! It was a gorgeous day, though once the sun went down, things got a bit chilly.

Still, the atmosphere remained lively as 39 teams battled it out. Thank you to everyone who came out; we hope the three absent teams enjoyed a restful Holy Thursday, and everyone enjoyed their Easter Sunday.

Highlights from Week 5

Competition was intense this week, with only four teams remaining undefeated. The battle for second and third place came down to points difference, and the margin between third and fourth was just one point.

After five weeks of play, we officially no longer have any undefeated teams. Red BarN’s Finest ended Glory Hole‘s impressive streak, taking them down and jumping from third place last week all the way to first place this week.

Shoutout to Red BarN’s Finest, Flicka da Wrist, One Guy and his Side Piece, and Your Hole Is My Goal for going undefeated in Week 5!

Movements in the Standings

The league standings saw significant shifts this week. Red BarN’s Finest is our new leader, having impressively climbed four positions in the standings over the last two weeks.

Meanwhile, Sofrito & Sazon experienced some inter-team tension this week. Luis notably called out Tony, blaming him for their second loss, causing them to drop from 2nd to 5th place overall.

With only two weeks left until the playoffs, there’s minimal room for error. The difference between the league’s top teams heading into the playoffs is tight.

Notably, there is just a 7-point difference separating third place (American Construction) from sixth place (Mullicans).

Additionally, this week saw ‘Your Hole is My Goal’ make the biggest leap of the week, moving up an impressive six positions.

Policy Reminder (Final Notice)

This is the last time we’ll mention this policy: No outside food or drinks are permitted, except water. Bringing your own alcohol is strictly prohibited.

This is considered the final warning—any team caught breaking this policy will immediately forfeit their matches for that night and the remainder of the season without further notice.

Bucket Reminder

We’ve received additional buckets from our distributors for your enjoyment! We completely understand they’re popular souvenirs, but please return buckets after use. This ensures we can continue offering them weekly and avoid returning to six-pack sleeves. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

Dinner Club Series at Freddy J’s

Don’t forget to join our Dinner Club series at Freddy J’s Bar & Kitchen, held on the last Wednesday of every month, on Wednesday, April 30th, and this time we’re headed straight to the heart of the Big Easy. Join us for “A Night in New Orleans,” a five-course, ticketed dining experience that celebrates the vibrant, soulful flavors of the Crescent City.

This menu is bold, refined, and packed with character, exactly what you’d expect from a night in NOLA. From coastal comforts to Creole spice, each course brings something unforgettable to the table.

Here’s what we’re serving:

Amuse-Bouche: Crab & Corn Custard

A warm and savory custard made with sweet corn and lump crab meat, delivering a delicate, coastal flavor in one refined bite.

Salad: Creole Style Heirloom Tomato Salad

Juicy heirloom tomatoes tossed with a zesty red wine vinaigrette, laced with Creole seasoning. Bright, refreshing, and bursting with New Orleans character.

Appetizer: Gulf Oyster Duo

Two oysters, two styles—one traditional, one with a creative twist. A briny and indulgent celebration of Gulf Coast bounty.

Dinner: Shrimp Étouffée

Tender shrimp simmered in a rich, roux-based sauce spiced with Creole flavors, served over white rice. Classic, comforting, and deeply satisfying.

Dessert: New Orleans Style Beignets

Crisp, airy pillows of fried dough coated in powdered sugar and served with a luscious cinnamon cream dipping sauce—because no trip to NOLA is complete without beignets.

Tickets are $55 per person (tax and tip not included). Seating is limited, and this event will sell out fast, so don’t wait to reserve your spot.

Come hungry, come curious, and come ready for a one-night escape to New Orleans—right here at Freddy J’s.

Help Us Keep It Clean

As always, please help us keep the venue clean by properly disposing of all bottle caps and trash in designated bins. Let’s keep Freddy J’s welcoming and enjoyable for everyone!
