Week 7 Recap – Summer 2025

August 7, 2025 by Grant Kneble

As we wrap up the seventh and final week of the regular season, excitement is at an all-time high for the Mays Landing Cornhole League.

This recap will walk you through the pivotal moments of Week 7, explain how last week’s rainout changed the playoff picture, break down which teams landed in each bracket, and preview what to expect as we head into a jam-packed doubleheader to close out the regular season and seed the championships.

There are some major updates, big shakeups, and a few milestones that deserve the spotlight.

Championship Date Change

The championship tournament is now THURSDAY, AUGUST 14th at 7 PM and NO LONGER Sunday, August 10th at 3 pm

First, I want to apologize sincerely for the last-minute change to Championship Sunday. The final was initially set for Sunday, August 10, but I’ve had to move it to Thursday, August 14.

This decision wasn’t made lightly.

For the first time in years, several of my family members are arriving from overseas, and the only time we could all be together is this Sunday. Family is everything to me, and I hope everyone understands.

We’ll bring our best back to Thursday to crown our champions the right way.

Week 7 Recap & The Road to Playoffs

Week 7 saw 26 of our 29 teams take to the boards for another highly competitive night of cornhole. Not Responsibles, Cock Sox, and Miller Time were the only teams missing from the action.

Due to rain, Week 8 was postponed, so we’re combining Weeks 8 and 9 into a special doubleheader this week. It’s been the season of doubleheaders, and now we’re finishing strong with yet another one.

All teams will play within their respective brackets, and the results from these matches will determine the playoff seedings for the championship tournament.

Every team makes the playoffs, with all records reset. From this point forward, teams will only face off against others within their bracket as we move into the double-elimination championship.

What’s Next: Playoff Format & Seeding

All teams qualify for the playoffs, and all team records are wiped clean for the playoffs.

Teams only play within their bracket, and today’s doubleheader determines your championship seeding. The big finale is a double-elimination tournament, and the road to the trophy is wide open.

As in last season, the A Bracket Champions will have their names added to the permanent plaques at Freddy J’s, joining the champions of past years.

Key Highlights at the end of the Season

There was no shortage of drama in the race for the final A Bracket spots. Born Fish clinched their place in the A Bracket by going undefeated in Week 7, while Mud Crickets, despite a 3-1 week, just missed out and now lead the B Bracket.

Baggin Blondes fell to the B Bracket after being shut out in the last week, and Husk and a Half made league history by finishing with a .500 season for the first time ever.

Not Responsibles managed to lock in an A Bracket slot despite missing Week 7.

Three teams finished tied, and the final A Bracket spot came down to just 40 points. Only 15 points separate the top four teams, and the first nine teams in the standings held their positions going into the playoffs.
