Week 8 & 9 Recap – Summer 2025

August 12, 2025 by Grant Kneble

This week brought the third doubleheader of the Summer 2025 season, a fitting end to the playoff lead-up after Week 8 was rained out.

With so many back-to-back matchups this summer, it only made sense that we would close the playoffs in the same fashion. The boards were buzzing with energy from start to finish, with players giving it their all to lock in the best possible seed for the championship.

Every bag tossed carried weight, and the atmosphere was electric with cheers, close finishes, and plenty of friendly banter between teams.

It was a perfect mix of competitive spirit and community fun, showing exactly why this league has grown to be such a highlight for so many each season.

Championship Date Reminder

The championship will be held this Thursday, August 14, at 7 PM. Thank you again for understanding the move from the original Sunday date. I know it caused some inconvenience, but I’m looking forward to finishing the season in true championship style with all of you.

Week 8 & 9 Recap

A total of 26 out of 29 teams took the boards for this crucial doubleheader. All A Bracket teams were in attendance, along with 10 of the 13 B Bracket teams. We missed Sack Attack, Bourbon Bandits, and Miller Time.

In the A Bracket, Cornflakes made a huge statement by going a perfect 8-0. Along the way, they pulled off a thrilling 22-20 win over the JERSEY DEVIL BRO’S, a potential preview of a championship finals clash.

The B Bracket standings were razor-thin at the top. Only 8 points separated the first seed from the second seed, and just 1 point separated the second from the third. Every throw mattered.

Seeding and What’s Next

With this doubleheader complete, all seeds for Thursday’s championship are locked in. Records from the season and playoffs no longer matter; every team starts fresh. The championship is a double-elimination tournament, which means the minimum number of games a team will play is two, even if both are losses. And remember, every team is in the championship, even if you couldn’t make the playoffs.

As in past summers, the A Bracket Champions will have their name permanently added to the plaques at Freddy J’s, alongside the 2023 and 2024 champions.
