As we entered the first week of playoffs, the Mays Landing Cornhole League was engulfed in a wave of excitement, enhanced by the ideal cornhole conditions under clear, sunny skies. This perfect weather starkly contrasted with earlier weeks, setting an upbeat tone for the intense competition that unfolded in Week 8 of our Spring 2024 season. This week was particularly crucial as it signaled the transition from the regular season’s all-encompassing play format to a high-stakes double-elimination setup.
Potential Schedule Adjustments Due to Weather
While we’ve enjoyed fantastic weather this past week, we’re closely monitoring the upcoming weather forecasts. Given the current predictions, there is a possibility of shifting Week 9’s games, originally scheduled for May 9, 2024, to the following week on May 16, 2024. This adjustment means that our eagerly awaited Championship Day, initially planned for May 16, would subsequently be moved to Sunday, May 19, 2024.
These changes are considered to ensure that all games are played under the best possible conditions, allowing players and fans alike to enjoy the event fully. We will confirm the schedule adjustments in the coming days and appreciate everyone’s flexibility and understanding as we aim to provide the best experience for our league participants.
Intense Playoff Action
Based on their regular season standings, teams were divided into two brackets, A and B. This week, the teams within each bracket faced off to secure the best possible positions for the upcoming final matches. The climax of these playoffs will see the champions of each bracket competing against each other to determine the overall grand champion. Should both contenders remain undefeated, the championship will escalate to a best-of-three series, maintaining the integrity of our double-elimination format.
This week’s games were characterized by strategic plays and high-energy performances, setting a vibrant tone for next week’s concluding playoffs. The community support was phenomenal, with spectators enjoying the games in the best weather conditions of the season.
Summer League Registration
As the Spring season approaches its exhilarating conclusion, our focus shifts towards the Summer 2024 season, which kicks off on May 30th. The deadline for registration is just around the corner on May 23rd. We encourage all who wish to participate, whether returning veterans or enthusiastic newcomers, to register soon.
