As we reach the conclusion of the Fall 2024 Mays Landing Cornhole League, it’s time to reflect on a season full of excitement, camaraderie, and fierce competition. From sunny summer days to crisp fall evenings, this season has indeed embodied the spirit of cornhole. For the first time in our league’s history, no single game was canceled or rescheduled due to rain, marking a historic achievement for the Fall 2024 season.
A Season to Remember
The season kicked off with all 38 teams showing up to battle it out by Week 2, bringing a mix of fresh faces and returning contenders. Throughout the first few weeks, we saw teams finding their rhythm, with some early standouts emerging, like Corn Baggins, 2 Dubs, and American Construction.
As the weeks progressed, it was clear that competition was fierce—many teams jostled for top spots, while others, like Corn Muffins and Me So Corny, earned their first wins of the season.
By midseason, the race for the top positions became tighter than ever. Each week brought new surprises, and by Week 6, teams were hitting their stride as they fought to secure their positions in the playoffs.
American Construction broke back into the top 3 after a brief hiatus, while others like Jersey Cartel and Sweetwater Slingers continued to make waves with their consistent performances.
Week 8: The Start of the Playoffs
As Week 8 marked the beginning of the playoffs, teams were divided into their respective brackets—the top 16 in the A Bracket and the bottom 22 in the B Bracket—with no more room for substitutes.
The stakes were high, and the competition intensified as teams battled within their brackets to determine their rankings for today’s double-elimination championship.
The playoff matchups in Week 8 proved to be some of the most intense of the season, with 4 Bags 1 Hole Vol 3 and Sack Attack standing out as the only undefeated teams in their respective brackets.
The pressure is on as we head into today’s championship tournament.
Today Marks the End of the 2024 Seasons
Today’s championship game is more than just the final match of the Fall 2024 season—it’s the last game of the year for the Mays Landing Cornhole League before we gear up for Spring 2025. This season has been filled with unforgettable moments, tight matchups, and plenty of nail-biting finishes. Every team has fought hard, and now it’s time to see who will rise to the top and claim the Bluey.
A Quick Reminder for the Championship Games
As we enter the final stretch of the season, please remember to confer with your opponents before the game to decide which team will be responsible for live scoring. If neither team is live scoring, agree on who will notify Grant of the final score. This will help avoid any confusion which we experienced during Week 9.
Championship Tournament: Week 10 – Fall 2024
As we enter the final showdown of the Fall 2024 Mays Landing Cornhole League, all teams qualify for the championship tournament, even those who haven’t been around since the start. However, if a team doesn’t show up for their match, they will not be included in the tournament, ensuring a competitive environment for all participants.
Coveted “Bluey” and “Greenie” Sweatshirts
The top 3 teams in the A and B brackets will receive trophies and prizes. The first-place winner of the entire league will take home the season trophy and the much-coveted “Bluey” sweatshirt. The first-place winner of the B bracket will receive the “Greenie” sweatshirt.
