Looking back on the Spring 2025 season, it’s clear how far we’ve come. From the opening week of rain-affected challenges to the sun-soaked nights of midseason play, our league has seen dramatic upsets, undefeated streaks, and unforgettable moments.
Over nine weeks, 42 teams battled through regular-season matchups, navigating weather delays, scoring controversies, and roster changes to earn their spot in this year’s playoffs. Weeks 1–7 delivered tight standings and surprising newcomers, while Week 8 marked the intense start of our playoff format. After a day of do-or-die matches, Week 9 has set the stage for Championship Sunday’s showdown.
Playoff Day Weather & Participation
Rain all day Thursday, turning the courts into a soggy stretch until moments before the first playoff matches threatened cancellation. Thankfully, the first throwdown proceeded under dry skies, and teams showed up ready to battle. We missed Throwdo Baggins, Calling All Cobs, Corny, Slidin Dirty, Toss & Pray, and Wrong Hole, but their playoff efforts earned them well-deserved seeding, and we hope to see them back for the tournament.
Undefeated Performers in Both Brackets
This week, two teams in the A Bracket (Red BarN’s Finest and One Guy and his Side Piece) and three teams in the B Bracket (Master Baggers, Baggin Blondes, and Your Hole Is My Goal) each completed their initial playoff matches undefeated, setting the stage for a tense Championship Sunday. One team was the only squad to go flawless across both brackets, underscoring their consistency and clutch play under pressure. Congrats to Red BarN’s Finest.
Their perfect record mirrors the balanced competition throughout the league: weeks of tight races and unpredictable outcomes have culminated in a playoff field where even a single misstep can end a championship bid.
Biggest Seed Climbers: From Regular Season to Playoff Grid
Several teams made remarkable leaps in their seeding between the end of Week 7 and the conclusion of Week 9:
- A Bracket:
- Sofrito & Sazon surged from 13th to 9th, riding late-season momentum.
- Two Guys climbed from 15th to 11th with two straight wins.
- Flicka da Wrist catapulted from 14th to 10th, thanks to a nail-biting tiebreaker victory.
- B Bracket:
- Sack Attack Vol 2 moved from 22nd to 18th, overcoming a midseason slump.
- Corn-inthians 13 jumped from 24th to 19th, showcasing clutch play.
- Not Responsibles rose from 23rd to 20th, edging out rivals by a slim margin in points allowed.
These seed climbers not only earned bragging rights but also gained strategic advantages: they avoided early matches against higher-seeded opponents and entered their Championship bracket with momentum and confidence.
Reigning Champions: Trials and Triumphs
Our defending champions faced contrasting fates. Landi Pools & Games, last season’s A Bracket winners who squeaked into Week 7 this season at 18th, battled through two upset victories to finish this day in 14th. Their resilience under pressure reaffirms why they took home the title last spring. Conversely, Broad Street Baggers, the reigning B Bracket champions, began Week 9 seeded 5th but dropped to 11th after two consecutive losses. Their early struggles underscore the depth of competition this season and that no title defense is guaranteed.
Standings, Tiebreakers, and What’s Next
In the A Bracket, seeding followed a clear order of wins and cumulative points. In the B Bracket, second and third place were decided by a mere 10 points allowed difference, a testament to how every single play matters. Now that all seeds are finalized (pending attendance), all of our 36 playoff qualifiers will face at least one more match in Championship Sunday’s double-elimination tournament. Remember: some teams may play only two games, while others could play as many as five en route to the title.

Trophies, Awards, and Community Celebration
Following Championship Sunday, we’ll honor the Top 3 teams in each bracket with trophies and prizes. Our tradition of celebrating cornhole excellence extends beyond the winner’s circle; all participants are invited to join an awards ceremony and seasonal wrap-up party at Freddy J’s. These gatherings reinforce the league’s community spirit, bringing together teams, friends, and families.
This celebration is not just for champions: it’s a thank-you to every player and sponsor who made Spring 2025 possible. Plan to stay through the awards presentation and share in the camaraderie.
Beyond Play: Freddy J’s Friday & Sunday Specials
While we don’t have our Karaoke DJs available for the championship, every Thursday, especially after cornhole, stick around for Music Bingo with DJ Bernie J and DJ Wally K until 11 PM.
