Week 5 was the warmest Thursday of the spring so far. The lot was full, the dogs were out everywhere, and a few teams played short with one teammate or a substitute filling in. Eighteen of twenty three teams showed up. Five of them went 4-0. Only one of them is still perfect on the season.
Tonight was also the first week with intentional repeat matchups. If Scoreholio sent your team across the boards from the same opponent twice, the algorithm will almost certainly keep you apart for the rest of the regular season. The next time you see them on a board across from you, it’ll probably be in the playoffs or the championship. Things are starting to lock in.
Who we missed
Five teams sat out tonight. Corny Bastards, Mother Shuckers, Nuthin Butt Holes, We thought the sign said Corndogs, and Hole Patrol. All five pick up 0-4 records for the week. Hole Patrol is now five for five on missing Thursdays. The rumor is Laura and Steph have been spotted at Freddy J’s most other days of the week. Just not the one with cornhole. The chair’s still warm.
And a word of encouragement to We thought the sign said Corndogs. Connor and Victoria have been racking up reps at the gym all season. Time to put some of those reps in on the boards. Cornhole works a different kind of muscle, and the only way to find out you’re better than you think is to show up.
Top 3 Teams of the Week
Five teams went 4-0 this week, which made the top of the leaderboard a tight race. Same record across the board. The tiebreakers came down to total points scored and differential.
- DEEZ NUTS (4-0, 95 points, +37 differential). Brandon and Ray put up the most points in the league this week. Their most consequential game was Round 4, a 21-17 finish over These Effin’ Guys that had real implications for the cumulative top three.
- Fairways (4-0, 94 points, +79 differential). Ray and Gary called their shot. Last week’s recap had them as the team to watch and they delivered with two shutouts and the best differential of the night.
- Lucky Sacks (4-0, 94 points, +73 differential). Justin and Jack steamrolled three opponents by a combined 72 to 5, then earned their one real game in Round 4 against Your Hole is My Goal.
Week 5 match summaries
Thirty six games tonight. Twenty of them ended with a margin of fifteen points or more. That’s 56 percent. Only two finished within five points. Four shutouts. When teams won this week, most of them won big.
Splash Bros. stayed perfect. Charles and Dutty went 4-0 again, and at 20-0 they’re now the only undefeated team in the league. They opened with 21-10 over Born Fish, then 21-11 over These Effin’ Guys, then 23-5 over Department of Bagriculture, and closed 22-8 over Baggin Dragons. Three regular season weeks left. Somebody has to take them down.
DEEZ NUTS posted the most points in the league. Brandon and Ray opened with a 30-19 win over Ginger ash tornado, beat Back to Black 23-8 in Round 2, edged Your Hole is My Goal 21-14 in Round 3, and held off These Effin’ Guys 21-17 in the closest game of either team’s night. The 4-0 night moves them past BagStreet Boys into second place in the cumulative.
Fairways made the called shot look easy. Ray and Gary opened by handing BagStreet Boys their only loss of the night, 21-7. Then they shut out Corndoggs 22-0 and Shuck Your Cornhole 26-0 back to back. The Shuck Your Cornhole game was the biggest blowout on the boards tonight. They closed 25-8 over Born Fish. Two shutouts, +79 differential, and a jump from sixth to fourth in the cumulative.
Lucky Sacks turned in their first 4-0 of the season. Justin and Jack opened 24-1 over Department of Bagriculture, followed it with 25-3 over Natural Corn Killers and 23-1 over Baggin Dragons. The Round 4 game against Your Hole is My Goal was their only competitive matchup of the night and they took it 22-16.
Air Mail had the best defense of the night. Twenty two points allowed across four games. Ryan opened with 22-7 over Back to Black, beat Ginger ash tornado 24-3 in Round 2, took down Barnyard Baggers 21-11 in Round 3, and closed 21-1 over Shuck Your Cornhole. Climbed two spots in the cumulative.
BagStreet Boys went 3-1. Anthony’s only loss came in Round 1 to Fairways. He bounced back with 22-15 over Department of Bagriculture, then 21-13 over These Effin’ Guys, and 23-3 over Department of Bagriculture in their second meeting of the night. The drop from second to third in the cumulative is on that opening game.
Your Hole is My Goal opened the night strong. Greg and Mark beat Barnyard Baggers 24-6 to start, shut out Back to Black 22-0 in Round 2, then ran into the wall. They lost to DEEZ NUTS 14-21 in Round 3 and Lucky Sacks 16-22 in Round 4. 2-2 on the night and a drop from fifth to seventh.
Born Fish are back. After missing Week 4, Chas and Mary opened with the loss to Splash Bros., then bounced with 25-2 over Shuck Your Cornhole, 22-1 over Corndoggs, and a closing loss to Fairways 8-25. 2-2 on the night.
Baggin Dragons split. Kristen and Jessica beat Shuck Your Cornhole 24-3 and Tossin’ Turtles 25-12 to start the night, then ran into the back-to-back buzzsaw of Lucky Sacks (1-23) and Splash Bros. (8-22).
Barnyard Baggers earned a flip. Haylee and Krista lost their first two (6-24 to Your Hole is My Goal, 11-21 to Air Mail), then shut out Tossin’ Turtles 25-0 and beat Back to Black 25-12 to even the night.
Corndoggs grabbed two. Caitlyn and Victoria beat Tossin’ Turtles 21-9 in Round 1, then took two ugly ones to Fairways (0-22) and Born Fish (1-22), before closing with a 26-19 win over Ginger ash tornado. The win moved them up a spot in the cumulative for the first time all season.
These Effin’ Guys drew the rough night. Bill and Mike beat Natural Corn Killers 23-5 to open and then ran straight into the gauntlet. Splash Bros. 11-21. BagStreet Boys 13-21. DEEZ NUTS 17-21. Three losses to the top three teams in the league. 1-3 on the night and a drop from fourth to sixth.
Ginger ash tornado earned their only win in Round 3, a 21-17 finish over Natural Corn Killers. That was one of just two games on the boards tonight that finished within five points.
Natural Corn Killers had the same shape. Tim and Nikki took three losses before grabbing their lone W in Round 4, a 22-1 finish over Tossin’ Turtles.
Four teams went home 0-4. Shuck Your Cornhole, Back to Black, Tossin’ Turtles, and Department of Bagriculture each took four losses. Justin held it down solo for Department of Bagriculture all night against four full teams. Tough draw for a one-man crew.
Round 4 swing games
A few teams saved their nights in Round 4. Corndoggs beat Ginger ash tornado 26-19 to avoid going 0-4. Natural Corn Killers picked up 22-1 over Tossin’ Turtles for their only win. Lucky Sacks earned their toughest game of the night and held off Your Hole is My Goal 22-16. And DEEZ NUTS edged These Effin’ Guys 21-17 in a game that decided the back of the cumulative top three.
Freddy J’s
Dollar wings and two dollar Yuenglings every Thursday at Freddy J’s Bar and Kitchen. This week the kitchen ran two specials worth showing up early for: Mad Mutz mozzarella sticks and Buffalo chicken stuffed tater kegs. Buckets of High Noon, Stateside, Surfside, beer, and now Spiked Ade and Super Lytes too. Late night happy hour kicks in around 9, right when the last bags are getting picked up. Half the league ends up inside afterward, going line by line through the standings and arguing about who’s actually going to take down Splash Bros. Come hungry, stay late.
Sponsors
Thanks to Freddy J’s Bar and Kitchen and Kneble’s Auto Service Center for keeping the lights on, the boards in the lot, and the lot itself open every Thursday. The league wouldn’t run without them.
Summer 2026 signups are open
If you’ve been thinking about signing up for Summer, this is the week to lock it in. Season runs Thursday, June 11 through August 16. Same parking lot, same format, same buckets, fresh standings. Looking ahead
Week 6 is Thursday, April 30 at 7 PM. Two regular season weeks left after this one. Splash Bros. are still the only undefeated team in the league at 20-0. The race for the second seed just opened up between DEEZ NUTS, BagStreet Boys, Fairways, and Air Mail. Nine teams sit on winning records. Everybody else is playing for playoff seeding now, because every team makes the brackets in Weeks 8 and 9. Where you finish the regular season decides which bracket you land in.
Team to watch: DEEZ NUTS. Brandon and Ray climbed into second cumulative this week with the most points scored in the league. Holding that pace through Weeks 6 and 7 puts them right behind Splash Bros. heading into the brackets.
